Girard Perregaux (GP) is a Swiss manufacturer of complex timepieces. The company can trace its
origins to 1791 making it one of the oldest manufactures within the industry. The current name,
however, appeared in full in 1854 when watchmaker Constant Girard married Marie Perregaux and the
modern company was born.
GP is well known within the world of horology for the 'Tourbillon Under Three Gold Bridges' or
Tourbillon Sous Trois Ponts d'Or. The company can also claim true manufacture status, meaning
it produces the vast majority of the movements used within their timepieces, rather than relying
on stock or ébauche parts made by companies such as ETA.
In 1945, GP created an art deco inspired model with a curved rectangular case. This was during
the period when the art of watch-making was enjoying an impressive renaissance. In 1995, GP
launched production of their 'Vintage 1945' inspired by their art deco model of the 40's. The
Vintage 1945 is now one of the icons of the Brand. It is made in various sizes and fitted with
different complications and is offered in a collection comprising both men's and ladies' watches.
